My mentoring focuses on helping students build confidence in computing while identifying pathways toward research, graduate education, leadership, and technical careers. I have mentored students from middle school through the undergraduate level.

This award signifies a staff or faculty member who greatly impacted a student ambassador’s experience at the Unvierstiy of South Florida. I was nominated by student ambassador, Kianna Freeman, for my mentorship in application to PhD programs and in conducting undergraduate research.

  • Georgia Ng Wai (2022-2025), Computer Science undergraduate - Conducted undergraduate research in artificial intelligence and coauthored the Best Paper at the International Conference on Social Computing, Behavioral-Cultural Modeling & Prediction and Behavior Representation in Modeling and Simulation (SBP-BRiMS).
  • Kianna Freeman (2021-2023), Economics undergraduate - Gained undergraduate research experience and received guidance on graduate-school applications; accepted to the University of Michigan Ph.D. program in Economics and Econometrics.
  • Phuong Dang (2020-2023), Computer Science undergraduate - Conducted undergraduate research in artificial intelligence and coauthored a paper published in the proceedings of the IEEE International Conference on Automatic Face and Gesture Recognition (FG).

Machine Learning Club

Developed lessons and curriculum introducing core machine learning concepts to students in grades 9-12. Established assessment tools to provide feedback to participating students and support teaching partners.
